THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS - My purpose for posting it unfinished is for the sake of saving progress in my writing as I figure out what to type next...
Before we get into this discussion, we must first get something off our chest...
So together, say it with me~
Enchantment Spec!!! Enchanter?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, you heard me correctly.
Enchanters are capable of more than just being a pet pulling mana blowing slave.
I'm going to break this down into five main sections. Within those there might be subsections/numbered sections so be ready to read. This is off the cuff, so all of this is literally laid out without planning the formatting etc. As such, if you find spelling or grammatical errors, they are most assuredly due to the website changing something of its own accord when my words crossed through the aether.
Now, let's get started.
Group Utility
One of the first things that might make a person wonder if an enchantment spec enchanter is a worthwhile specline is the commonly thrown around, "Enchantment spec is great for solo". While this may be a true statement at times, it doesn't knock the group utility an enchantment specline brings to the fold. Not only do all enchanters get unique pets to service a wide array of roles, but with an enchantment specline you will be afforded buffs for your pets which will make them fulfill those roles even better, especially if your group is short a tank. Now, that being said, all groups have their "perfect" cookie cutter makes, which means that your spec may not meet the specific needs of the group you are hoping to get into on all occasions. Whether one group is better or more fair than another is not within the scope of this write up though, so *poof*.
Okay, so this is getting very wordy and I think short and simple will be best from here on out.
#1: Damage Arms Buff - Every melee or melee potential group member who receives this buff from you has increased your potential DPS by roughly 60% of what their total melee DPS is... What this means is, you are best suited to groups which have melee damage dealers somewhere in them.
This is way more useful than most people give it credit for. Not only is this buff the highest damage buff in Hibernia, but it has the ability to STACK with the Warden Damage Arms chant(pulse). In fact, as I write this, a Warden has buffed me and my pet at the exchange of me buffing him so we can both solo orange mobs with the effectiveness with which a runny nose destroys a tissue.
I think it goes without saying that your pets have their own usefulness to the group. Mostly groups will ask for the Ally pet because of its healing feature and regen buff. I'll expand on this if necessary due to questions or comments made in below posts.
Duo Viability
Compatriot Pet - This tank pet has a very noticeable agro holding ability. This doesn't mean you or your partner should go all out on the mob it is tanking, but you can get some nice ranged hits in and the pet will do a good job of holding agro. If he happens to lose agro, just have your duo partner kite until the pet regains it which should only take 1 hit landing on the mob. (I did this such tactic with a ranger in the frontiers duoing trees outside of DC. Trees were red to us both and my pet could easily tank them while I concentrated on heals and the ranger DPSed.)
Solo Viability
#1: Your best bet is to use your melee pets as tanks until you get the compatriot to be your main tank. While leveling, you most likely won't have any +light spec gear which means your baseline nuke is going to have too much damage variance. The key here is to just let you pet solo the mob to 70% HP and you step in and staff it to death while your pet tanks. You should solo blues and yellows when you are lower level because the missrate and damage matches better for your pet at these levels versus blue and yellow mobs. By the time you reach level 33 or so, you should be able to solo yellows and LOW oranges. Do keep in mind the difference between oranges you fight because some are low and some are high. A high orange might as well con red to you and while you can kill it... it isn't going to be worth the fight. While your pet is taking the mob down to 70%, sit on your butt and enjoy the slow power regen.
#2: At level 29 you get your pet's first reactive healing proc. This proc and the higher level versions of it has a 10% chance to go off in combat. When it does, it heals you pet for the amount listed on the delve window. As of this writing, I have not found out whether this increases to a 120% maximum with higher enchantment skill as it does not broadcast the heal amount in chat. Needs further testing.
Man, this is getting wordy all over again... Concise Greg concise!
RvR Styles
#1: Companion pet - Best against solo melee albs/mids because of the snare.
#2: Zealot pet - Best against casters.
#3: Compatriot pet - This one is nice to sick after people, especially stealthers but given the dodgerate of stealthers, you might be better off sending a caster after them and keeping it healed.
Spells and Effects (unique to Enchantment)
#1: Damage Arms - increases your DPS by the following values per step: 1.6; 2.5; 3.1; 3.9; 5.0; 6.3; 7.9; 10.0 (Suppose to work with Mastery of the Arcane RA giving a final DPS value of 11.5 at MoA 5)
#2: Piercing Magic (Pet ONLY) - This spell has two levels. Each level adds 10% to either your pet's CHANCE to hit mobs/players higher level than itself with MAGIC only OR 10% additional damage to mobs/players lower than itself with MAGIC. This is a buff for your nukers to bring them on par with your compatriot tank who benefits the most from your other buffs. This buff should make your Companion's snare or your zealots nukers and debuffs hit all the harder.
#3: Pet Buff Str/Con - Increases your pet's absorb factor making it live so much longer in combat.
#4: Pet Buff Dex/Qui - Raises the chance for your pet to land a hit in melee combat as well as increases its attack speed. Other's state that this is supposed to increases its absorb factor as well, but nothing in the patch notes suggests this is the case. In fact, Mythic had stated otherwise. Needs further testing.
#5: Pet Reactive Healing Proc - This reactive heal proc has a 10% chance to go off in combat. The key to getting the best use out of this spell is to have your compatriot tank mobs which hit relatively weak, but fast. So don't have your pet tanking two hand wielding mobs or slow attacking mobs. The justification comes from the 10% chance. The more weak hits your pet takes in rapid succession, the more likely your 10% reactive will fire off. Because of this, you can rest assured that his heal proc will make up for a lot of the damage from those rapid hits. But... If your pet is tanking a slow and very hard hitting mob, your chances of a reactive firing is much smaller givin' the less number of hits in the total fight. Best bet, get a bunch of grey or green mobs on your pet while it is tanking a yellow or orange mob. The greys and greens should cause the heal proc to go off while only dealing out a minimal amount of damage. Another great example of this is using Scratch in CM when you are level 35 or so. Get him on your pet and solo oranges non-stop while he keeps your pet healed. You're welcome for this gold hint... Which by the way is GM approved from Gnome himself as you can see below when I asked about it. His response is at the very end of the IRC logs.
-----
A list of questions I would like to test to find answer to regarding the Enchantment Enchanter.
#1: Do Enchanter pet stat buffs increase to 120% of the delve value based on either skill or +skill?
#2: Do these stats cap at 75 or can they go over 75 and be effective with the help of Mastery of the Arcane RA?
#3: Do pets' HP increase with Str/Con buff or does its Abs increase only?
#4: How much Abs do you get per buff? Grey Vs Green Vs Blue etc.
#5: Do all buffs give the same Abs value if their delve value is the same. e.g: StrCon75 vs DexQui75. Do they both give an equal 15% Abs?
#6: Does Mastery of the Arcane increase Beguiling and Insidious Will pet buffs effectiveness? e.g: Would MoA5 make the 20% +HitChance increase by 15% to a total of 23% +HitChance?
#7: Does Wild Minion RA really only affect the Melee crit chance of a pet? If so, W(hy)TF does an animist get it. It isn't like their pet really benefits much considering they are first line nukers and secondarily melee...
#8: What is a pet's default hit chance and crit chance in melee and nuking vs lower level and higher level players.
#9: With the pet piercing magic, the delve talks about players higher and lower than the pet. If a player or monster is the SAME level, which one of these benefits does the buff provide or does it provide both?
#10: Does the reactive proc that heals the pet increase in value based on our Enchantment spec level? What is the max effectiveness? 120%?
Before we get into this discussion, we must first get something off our chest...

[21:09] == Ormilig [~Ormilig@Ormii.users.quakenet.org] has joined #uthgard
[21:09] <Ormilig> whats a reverse heal proc?
[21:09] <Ormilig>
[21:11] <Nodlain> Ormilig it is enchantment spec for Enchanters
[21:11] <Nodlain> We get a reverse heal proc for our pets
[21:11] <Ferboten> what does it do
[21:11] <Ormilig> just saying reverse heal proc again, does not explain it
[21:11] <Asmegin> heal you when you're hit
[21:12] <Asmegin> i suppose
[21:12] <norad> isnt that just a heal proc?
[21:12] <Nodlain> When a mob hits you, your pet has a 10% chance to self cast an instant heal
[21:12] <Ormilig> so its a heal proc
[21:12] <Nodlain> We say reverse because it is non-offensive sorry.
[21:12] <Nodlain> Defense proc
[21:12] <Asmegin> ah
[21:12] <norad> what's problem with it?
[21:12] <Ferboten> wouldn't a reverse proc heal the enemy when they hit you?
[21:12] <Ormilig> thats why i asked
[21:12] <Nodlain> Word semantics :-)
[21:12] <Asmegin> that'd be my logic as well
[21:12] <Nodlain> Anyways, here is the issue.
[21:13] <Nodlain> DAoC live has always caused the proc to go off at a 10% chance.
[21:13] <Nodlain> There is no timer between when procs can go off.
[21:13] <norad> 1.65 might be different
[21:13] <Nodlain> It's not. I've checked and provided evidence.
[21:13] <Nodlain> Uth 2.0 is setup livelike in regards to procs atm.
[21:13] <Nodlain> Well here is the issue.
[21:14] <Nodlain> If you have a pet with reverse proc, you can get a bunch of gray or green mobs to hit your pet.
[21:14] <Nodlain> And their dmg is going to be minimal.
[21:14] <Nodlain> 5's etc...
[21:14] <Nodlain> But they have a 10% chance to cause the proc to fire.
[21:14] <Nodlain> And the proc heals your pet for 100+ HP depending on the level of your enchantment spec.
[21:15] == Eddie [webchat@c-73-201-71-14.hsd1.wv.comcast.net] has joined #uthgard
[21:15] <Eddie> /dance
[21:15] <Nodlain> So you can have a mob of greys or greens on your pet that gives it a chain proc heal essentially.
[21:15] <Ormilig> so?
[21:15] <Nodlain> Scratch in CM is a perfect example.
[21:15] <norad> shouldnt super low mobs just miss all the time?
[21:15] <Ormilig> if they hit, why shouldn't they have that 10% chance to proc your heal proc?
[21:15] <Nodlain> Not when the #'s of attackers is more than 3 or so
[21:15] <Nodlain> Ormilig, I'm saying they should.
[21:15] <norad> ok so what's the issue
[21:16] <Nodlain> So I got Scratch in CM to follow my pet.
[21:16] <Nodlain> While my pet was killing mobs.
[21:16] <Nodlain> So Scratch was setting off the proc.
[21:16] <Nodlain> Pet can kill and get the heal proc.
[21:16] <Eddie> dirty hibbbehhhss

[21:16] <norad> ya that's not an exploit nodlain

[20:53] <Nodlain> I have. But the server just got a flag for reboot.
[20:53] <Nodlain> Enchanter pet reverse heal proc.
[20:53] <norad> they'll come around to respond for u

[20:54] <ineloki> hi is it a short reboot ?
[20:54] <norad> no
[20:54] <norad> it said quick

[20:55] <Arakith> yesterday "quick" reboot was around 30 minutes
[20:59] <norad> sounds very quick
[21:06] == mora [webchat@x55b4cbf4.dyn.telefonica.de] has quit [Quit: Page closed]
[21:09] == Ormilig [~Ormilig@Ormii.users.quakenet.org] has joined #uthgard
[21:15] == Eddie [webchat@c-73-201-71-14.hsd1.wv.comcast.net] has joined #uthgard
[21:16] <@[Uth]Gnome> So..
[21:16] == Ensiferum [webchat@i577AA0F9.versanet.de] has joined #uthgard

[21:16] <Nodlain> And some jealous Ranger says he is reporting me.
[21:16] <@[Uth]Gnome> This basically looks like something I did on Live servers.
[21:16] <Nodlain> So I'm here to ask the GM's if this is not allowed.
[21:16] <norad> ya that's not an exploit nodlain
[21:16] <norad> so dont worry
[21:16] <@[Uth]Gnome> Pull a bunch of monsters that would trigger reactive procs, but minimal damage so I outheal the monsters.
[21:16] <darkalfie> yeah. tats just game mechanics
[21:17] <darkalfie> the greys should misss most of the time
[21:17] <Nodlain> Gnome, is this a safe mechanic to use?
[21:17] <norad> i guess mobs get a +to hit with many on him th
[21:17] <@[Uth]Gnome> Just a player that knows his potential.
[21:17] <norad> so they all hit low
[21:17] <norad> but actually hit
[21:17] <Ferboten> if you think that's bad just wait til SI comes out and sorcs get those torch pets
[21:17] <Eddie> !!!! im a sorcy
